/ins . One of the world’s most widely used forms of packaging – the blister pack – can now be made totally in paperboard. Two major benefits are reduced environmental impact and less consumer rage and self-injury. Blister packs are made to hang on a holder in the retail store and often consist of a paperboard backing plus a moulded transparent plastic front section to display the product to the consumer. The Norwegian converter Moltzaus’s ingeniously designed Cefapac improves both the pack’s environmental performance and its openability, and has already won awards.

/ins . Concept Sweden AB is a young company, but they have many years of experience within the field of automation. Situated in Gothenburg, on the west coasts of Sweden, a group of experienced engineers and young blood in the line started the automation company in 2011. The startup has been very successful with an average growth rate of more than 25% per year. They have had a high annual profitability right from the start, and their new waterjet cutting machine investment has improved profitability even further.

/ins . This year’s winner of the international Swedish Steel Prize is Kiruna Wagon from Sweden. The prize is awarded for the company’s innovative wagon solution, the Helix Dumper. Kiruna Wagon has used high-strength steel to develop a highly durable and far more efficient wagon solution than other ore wagons on the market.

/ins . AEGLE Zero, a new uncoated folding boxboard with an uncoated reverse, has been added to the range of packaging materials offered by Kotkamills from their BM2 cartonboard machine in Kotka, Finland.

/ins . James Cropper is internationally renowned for its expertise in colour, but all too often people imagine the colours of the rainbow, all bright yellows and vivid blues. However, James Cropper is shining a light on its darker range, Black – a colour for which the mill holds recipes for over 50 different shades – alongside Italian paper specialist Fontana Graphica at this year’s Packaging Premiere exhibition in Milan.
