/INS.   Ever stricter legal requirements and increasing customer demand for eco-friendly and low-noise motorization are also strengthening the trend toward electric drives in the maritime industry. Bosch therefore offers solutions for recreational boats and motorized yachts up to 24 m long, enabling shipyards, shipbuilders, and system integrators to implement drive electrification quickly and easily. In many regions around the world, new environmental laws for inland and recreational boating will come into force in the coming years, promoting the use of alternative powertrain systems or even banning conventional engines altogether. “With our solutions, we offer an efficient way to meet these requirements. We are also making a valuable contribution to further reducing greenhouse gas and noise emissions in the maritime sector,” says Philipp Kurek, who is responsible for off-highway and maritime solutions at Bosch Engineering.

/INS.  Neste has partnered with Rio Tinto to help the company transition all of its heavy machinery from fossil diesel to renewable diesel at the U.S. Borax mine in Boron, California. The partnership helps Rio Tinto reduce the carbon footprint of its fleet and sets a precedent for others in the mining industry to follow.

Technology group Wärtsilä will partner with Transworld Group to apply the most advanced decarbonisation modelling capabilities to the bulk carriers sector of Orient Express lines of Dubai, owned by Transworld Group and Managed by Transworld Ship Management (TWSM), one of India's premium private sector ship management firms. The aim of the project is to provide decision-making support by simulating the impact of efficiency upgrade technologies on the vessel’s environmental performance. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in December 2022.

/INS.   The winner of the international Swedish Steel Prize 2023 is Green Buffers from Sweden. The prize is awarded for their highly sophisticated use of energy-absorbing high-strength steel to make trains safer for passengers and more economical for operators.

The solution is accessible from anywhere at any time and requires no long-term commitment from customers. Expanding its portfolio of solutions to cover new formats, product categories and geographies, the company continues to make progress in the area of recycled content for beverage cartons, using certified recycled polymers.  Tetra Pak was the first carton packaging manufacturer to offer solutions using certified recycled polymers, working together with Elvir in France to launch the first cap for beverage cartons with certified recycled polymers in 2022.  New collaborations in the European market have since been initiated, with leading dairy brands Emmi and Lactalis.
