Yara Growth Ventures have invested in SP Venture's new AgVentures Fund II focused on investing in leading agri-food tech startups across Latin America. Joining Yara Growth Ventures in the fund include IFC, IADB, BASF, Syngenta, Capria, and Adisseo.

The technology group Wärtsilä and Norwegian ship owner Eidesvik Offshore ASA have signed a landmark cooperation agreement aimed at converting an offshore supply vessel (OSV) to operate with an ammonia-fuelled combustion engine with required fuel supply and safety system. This project will be the first of its kind ever in the world and has a provisional completion target by the end of 2023.

The SCA Obbola pulp mill’s upgraded fiberline, was started up in September 2021, according to plan. Valmet’s delivery is part of SCA’s investment project to increase the annual production of Kraftliner in the Obbola mill from the current 450,000 tonnes to 725,000 tonnes per year. With this investment, SCA Obbola will meet the increased demand for sustainable packaging.

Metso Outotec Corporation press release, September 29, 2021 at 9:00 am local time Metso Outotec is opening a new laser welding unit, customized for demanding production conditions, at its filtration technology center in Lappeenranta, Finland. The new laser welding unit will add to the center’s manufacturing capacity and enable the production of higher-quality welded structures in a safer, and more environmentally friendly manner. The value of the investment is approximately one million euros.

Vaisala  help s  improve meteorological observations  and mitigate impacts of flooding  in Poland Vaisala   will help  the Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute  to build up local capabilities to tackle effects of extreme weather due to climate change. Outstanding environmental observations, forecasting, and early warning systems help safeguard both lives and property.  This will be even more important in the future as  extreme weather events ,  such as  the floods  seen across  Europe this summer ,   are forecast to  become more frequent.

The technology group Wärtsilä will supply the engines for two new pusher tugs being built for the Brazilian operator Hidrovias do Brasil at the Uzmar Shipyard in Turkey. There is an option for an additional two vessels. The Hidrovias fleet already includes a number of vessels operating with Wärtsilä engines, and their operational dependability and competitive lifecycle cost were cited as key considerations in the award of this latest contract, which was signed in the second quarter, 2021.
