Kemira launches KemFlite™ to eliminate paper machine deposition

Kemira is introducing KemFlite™, a new concept to reduce paper and board machine problems that are caused by deposits due to the agglomeration of hydrophobic particles. These particles typically originate from wood pitch, stickies or binders in coated broke and have previously been difficult to detect and control. Under certain conditions the particles agglomerate to a larger size and eventually deposit on paper machine wet-end surfaces, wires, felts and dryer cans.

Konecranes has introduced a Hybrid (diesel/electric) power option for its Rubber Tired Gantry cranes (RTGs), which can reduce diesel fuel consumption by over 60 %. With the addition of this new power option, Konecranes now provides a full range of solutions for RTGs: Hybrid Power Pack, Diesel Fuel Saver, and two electric power options, the Cable Reel and Busbar. Customers can thus choose either a diesel or electric solution, depending on their business requirements. The Hybrid Power Pack and Diesel Fuel Saver provide the flexibility of diesel power, while the two electric options provide the benefits and convenience of electricity – no diesel, less maintenance, less noise and lower emissions.

The first new mine for ages is being built at Pajala, in northern Sweden. Ruukki is delivering steel components for the mining industry and structures for the concentration mill. In kiruna, also in northern Sweden, the existing mine is being enlarged by building a new mine level at a depth of 1,300 metres.

Finland-based Pankaboard added to its environmental credentials after securing a certificate for complying with the latest version of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standard. Since the beginning of 2012, the company has held the FSC chain-of-custody certification.
