/INS.   The winner of the international Swedish Steel Prize 2023 is Green Buffers from Sweden. The prize is awarded for their highly sophisticated use of energy-absorbing high-strength steel to make trains safer for passengers and more economical for operators.

/INS.  Hapag-Lloyd is introducing “Ship Green”, a new solution for climate-friendly transportation based on biofuel. The solution is accessible from anywhere at any time and requires no long-term commitment from customers. In the first rollout stage, customers can add Ship Green as an additional service to their existing bookings.

Expanding its portfolio of solutions to cover new formats, product categories and geographies, the company continues to make progress in the area of recycled content for beverage cartons, using certified recycled polymers.  Tetra Pak was the first carton packaging manufacturer to offer solutions using certified recycled polymers, working together with Elvir in France to launch the first cap for beverage cartons with certified recycled polymers in 2022.  New collaborations in the European market have since been initiated, with leading dairy brands Emmi and Lactalis.

In cooperation with Fost Plus (Evere, Belgium;  www.fostplus.be ), Dutch recycler Morssinkhof-Plastics (Lichtenvoorde, the Netherlands;  www.morssinkhofplastics.nl ) has announced the construction of a recovery plant in Lommel, Belgium. Around EUR 30 mn are to be invested in the production facility, which is to go into operation in October 2024 and is projected to have a recycling capacity of 40,000 t (input). The plant is being built in the Belgian province of Limburg, where the company plans to recycle polypropylene and polyethylene (HDPE) packaging, including milk, shampoo, detergent, and shower gel bottles. /INS
