/INS. Available in the Middle East, the Konecranes RailQ Runway Survey is a unique survey technology that delivers accurate alignment information of any runway. It uses a remotely operated robot combined with state-of-the-art surveying equipment and a visual inspection to provide an in-depth view of the alignment and condition of the crane runway. “RailQ can be performed on almost any runway, including those for overhead cranes and port cranes,” said Konecranes Service Manager David Paul.
There could be many reasons why a crane does not travel correctly on the runway, including worn rails, wheels and flanges, failures of the bearing and guide roller, structural fatigue, tracking problems and machinery failures. It is important that cranes travel along their runway rails with a minimum of skew and without binding, to avoid premature wheel and rail wear. “Premature wheel and rail wear can not only result in costly repairs and downtime, but also in inefficient and suboptimal crane operation,” explains Paul.
Traditional runway surveys can often result in days of costly downtime and the results may not be accurate or clear. The Konecranes RailQ Runway Survey provides a fast, safe and accurate analysis that is backed up by expert recommendations for corrective actions.
Customers in United Arab Emirates now have the chance to see the benefits of RailQ for themselves. Konecranes is offering, for a limited time, a free demonstration of the robot. “Customers can see RailQ perform live on their own runway, while a Konecranes expert will explain the generated report in detail. What better way is there to see what the tool can do for you?” said Paul.
