The future of maintenance is here today – with TRUCONNECT Real-Time Service

/INS. TRUCONNECT Remote Service, developed by Konecranes, connects data, machines, and people to provide remote monitoring, diagnostics, analytics, and usage-based predictive maintenance designed to help businesses address potential maintenance and performance issues before these issues become critical and threaten employee safety, productivity, and revenue.

The Industrial Internet is bringing an immense transformation to global industry by connecting more intelligent machines and people at work. This meshing of the digital world with the world of machines has the potential to bring immense benefits. Konecranes is well aware of the value of the Industrial Internet and how it will change the world of material handling. The company already applies the Industrial Internet to lead the evolution of service through remote monitoring, diagnostics, analytics, and usage-based predictive maintenance — providing real-time visibility and a unique customer experience.

Nowadays, much of the service, maintenance, and repair work is done in a scheduled way: carried out routinely on a set timetable, because real- time information on the condition and performance of the equipment is sometimes lacking. A lot of time and money is wasted, mostly due to deficiencies in how information is gathered and shared. In other instances, technicians rush to repair a defect that might have been avoided if only they had received the relevant information that preventive maintenance was required. TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring provides visibility to crane usage and operating data, helping with decisions about maintenance investments and productivity. The data is utilized to estimate the remaining theoretical design working period (DWP) and service life of selected components. Additionally, crane usage patterns may identify where operator training could improve safety and productivity. An Alerts option provides notification by email and/or text message of selected occurrences, including overheating, attempted overloads, and emergency stops, so that prompt action can be taken as appropriate.

Helping to optimize crane usage

Emergency stops, overloads, and other safety issues are captured and reported. This enables engineers and technicians to address problems and take corrective actions. With TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring, the crane usage can be optimized by identifying how operator training could improve the safety and productivity of worksites. A variety of operating data regarding equipment usage is compiled periodically at the Konecranes Remote Data Center. Easy-to-interpret graphical reports can be brought on-demand or emailed to users on a predetermined schedule. Where Remote Monitoring is in place, a focused selection of critical status data, such as overloads and overheats, can be transmitted by email or text message soon after the event occurs so that prompt action can be taken as necessary.

Remote connection availability is included in new Konecranes equipment but can also be installed as a retrofit to existing industrial cranes. The remote connection is based on a diagnostic unit that collects detailed information from the crane and sends it back to the Konecranes Remote Data Center through a highly secured connection. The Remote Data Center analyzes and compiles the information into a report that can be viewed online.

Currently, TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring is available for CXT cranes for industrial applications, and for SMARTON and other engineered cranes for heavy applications.

Real-time Service

TRUCONNECT Remote Support offers customers 24/7 access to a global network of support centers, with crane experts and specialists available to provide remote support and troubleshooting in the case of a breakdown or indication of a fault. Through a remote connection, the Konecranes experts at any of these support centers are able to access and troubleshoot the equipment and use the data to better understand the issue and identify corrective action.

The benefits of connecting the crane to Konecranes experts are evident: Remote Support begins troubleshooting soon after a breakdown or other event to minimize downtime as well as troubleshooting for problems that require high-level technical expertise. It also helps to identify the need for corrective on-site maintenance actions and spare parts. Responsive support 24/7 from one easy point of contact, available by phone or email ― even for extremely remote locations.
