When Sulkava Rowing Stadium cheered for 1st time IWF Rowers!
On the evening of Saturday, 10th of July 2021, cheers erupted from Sulkava Rowing Stadium as the IWF Rowers' boat glided towards the finishing point.
Earlier in the morning on the same day, the team of 14 members of Indian Women in Finland Ry, set out for Sulkava's Annual 30KM Rowing Race, guided by coxswain Geo T.F at the helm.
Sulkava Rowing Race is Finland’s biggest rowing event that has gathered in its best years over 10 000 rowers and over 20 000 visitors. In most categories the route is approximately 60 km, expect in two days tour rowing, race is 70 km. These two routes take the rowers around the isle of Partalansaari where the rowers can enjoy the beautiful Finnish nature while competing. 30 km Stadium-Linnavuori-Stadium offers good alternative for 60km route for those who prefer shorter distance.
IWF Ry is a non-profit group of Indian women living in Finland, founded as a Facebook group in 2015. The primary purpose of the group is to connect the Indian women in Finland and also help them adapt to the Finnish way of life. Today IWF Ry has evolved into an active community of 434 members, and organizes a number of events ranging from meet-ups, sports, cultural gatherings, mentoring programs, etc.
We congratulate the IWF Rowers for this achievement and thank Geo T.F for his valuable support.
