Linq presents the first complete company portal in Europe

The Swedish company Linq is now the first company in Europe to present a family of products for building complete company portals. Company portals bring together all the information and other functions that were previously dispersed throughout intranets and in other systems and databases, and makes them manageable and useable. The presentation will take place at Microsoft® Exchange -99 in Hamburg on October 11th - 13th.

"Many people in modern companies feel that they do not have the information they need, while at the same time they see an enormous surplus of information that they feel they do not need. Our company portal brings order to the information flow and enables companies to make better use of their IT investments," says Michael Mandahl, MD of Linq.

LinqPortal is based on products from Microsoft Back Office and Microsoft Office, platforms that are already standard in most companies. With the aid of WAP the applications can be used remotely.

In contrast to similar products, particularly those on the American market, Linq's software contains applications that support various work processes. This means that employees are not only given access to information but can also work in the portals. One example is support for project work in electronic workspaces.

"In this way it becomes possible for previously unused information that has been dispersed and hidden in various systems and databases to be used to support employees and companies' ability to innovative as well as their competitive position," says Michael Mandahl.

Full WAP access
LinqPortal is also unique by virtue of its support for remote working. As an extra service Linq will offer full WAP access to all portal applications. Linq Mobile Organizer, which gives employees access from their mobile phones to Microsoft Outlook, will be demonstrated by Linq in Hamburg as the first of several elements in this concept.

"When Linq integrates WAP services with the intranets in this way, the customers are offered a wide choice of WAP services from the beginning. We are expecting the demand for new services in the large organisations to increase quickly, and to be a driving force of the development when we build the mobile information society," says Sara Kullgren, Managing Director at Nokia Mobile Phones, Scandinavia.

Three versions
LinqPortal is available in three basic versions: one for large companies, one for municipalities and county councils and one for decentralised decision-making in all types of organisations.

In all cases there can be individual customisation according to individual roles and tasks, which means that employees can access precisely the information and the tools that they need most at any given time.

"Managing a company, a department or an individual business, regardless of the type of industry, requires access to the right information at the right time. More and more companies collect relevant information about their internal operations, the market and their competitors on a so-called Digital Dashboard. This technology makes it possible to get the necessary overview to be able to make quick, correct decisions. LinqPortal is a way for organisations to make this happen quickly," says Martin L. Jansson, Nordic Marketing Manager, Enterprise Group at Microsoft.
