PRESS RELEASE
February 29, 1996
New R&D center for gas applications
in Sao Paolo, Brazil

To improve its contact with the Latin American market, Aga is opening a center for the development of technology and applications in Sao Paolo. Initially, more than ten specialists from the company's various business areas will be providing expertise and complete support to customers throughout South America.

"At the Latin America Competence Center, we'll be able to develop new technologies and applications on the basis of local conditions," says Piero Acco of the Sao Paolo office. "The new Center will also serve as a consultant to customers and local companies. In the long run, we'll be able to make our customers more competitive by providing them with efficient gas solutions."
The demand for environmentally sound applications is rising steadily, especially in the United States and Europe. Local needs in Latin America will test the company's environmental competence. The new Center is expected to stimulate new ideas and expand the company's knowledge base.

Good results in Germany
Five years ago, a Central European Center was established in Germany. The objective, then as now, was to get closer to the market, developing new methods and technical solutions in cooperation with customers. Aga's commitment to the Center resulted in improved communication with the market and a long list of important new applications.
Aga is one of the world's leading gas companies. The Aga Group employs over 10,000 people and has annual sales of some $2,000 million.
Latin America accounts for 20% of the Group's sales. Aga has been active in Latin America since 1915, when a Brazilian operation was launched. The Group currently operates in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela./ins
