SWE-DISH Satellite Systems has been awarded a contract from the US Department of Defense to a value of $18 Million for mobile satellite communications equipment. The products which will be supplied during a 12 months period, are to be used for transmission of video, data and voice content from anywhere in the world.

The need for broadband transmission of large contents of data from distant locations is constantly increasing. SWE-DISH Satellite Systems specializes in compact, quick-to-air and easy-to-use mobile satellite communications equipment, and has recently launched the smallest broadcast quality satellite terminal in the world, allowing live 2 Mbps broadband transmission directly to the Internet. The IPT Suitcase is scarcely bigger than hand baggage and the weight is less than 35 kg, which is a break through for news reporters who are out on the field reporting live news from anywhere in the world.

The US Department of Defense has ordered the new IPT Suitcase and the SWE-DISH Fly-Away 150 Tri-band version - another mobile satcom terminal for higher bandwidth requirements.
