X at Comdex Breakthrough technology and design sets innovative mouse apart
Bluetooth™ technology, combined with improved functionality and user-friendly design, has created new options for interaction between man and machines. This is the claim being made by the new Swedish innovation company Aesthetically Pleasing Electronics AB (APE), which will preview its new X-Mouse at this year's Comdex Fall show, held in November in Las Vegas. The company is currently negotiating with major PC manufacturers in countries such as the United States and Japan.
APE develops Human Interface Devices (HIDs) and software that enable interoperability among different user platforms. Functionality and design have been specially adapted to combine workplace and home environments. When computers become a natural part of our living rooms, and services and software become Web based, HID products will serve as the links that enable people and machines to interact."X-Mouse is a hybrid form, a crossover between a traditional computer mouse and a joypad. The "X" stands for this cross-functionality between the PC, game consol and multimedia device platforms," says Jonas Lindberg, marketing manager at APE.
The X-Mouse features wireless communication via Bluetooth™ technology and battery charging without the use of a docking station, and can be used both on the desktop and as a handheld device. This provides users with natural, built-in flexibility as regards usage, and reduces the risk of Repetitive Stress Injury.
The X-Mouse will be premiered in Toshiba booth in Comdex Fall 2001 and at the Bluetooth Development Conference in San Francisco, along with the company's new line of Bluetooth-enabled computers (Stand L 5638 at Comdex). Volume production is expected to start in 2002.
