Advanced database creates a new way of buying used machines

A simple local call. This is enough to buy the used machine you are looking for. This applies to several industries and irrespective of where in Europe the machinery is located. The information is provided by the founders of Quest Line, whose business system is built on gathering Europe's sellers and their range of used machines in one single easily accessible and up-to-date database.

High currency becomes a key concept, as does close co-operation with leading industry publications in several lines of business. To begin with, the database and marketing will be aimed at construction machines and machine tools. The system, which has been successfully tested in Spain over a period, also includes a co-operation agreement with Schenker, Europe's largest provider of transportation and logistic services. Co-operation with the world-wide inspection organization SGS provides opportunities for impartial inspection.

Simple routine
For machinery buyers, the borderless machinery trade works by phoning a national number that connects to a local call centre company, whose operators speak the own language. These have direct contact with the continuously updated database, which contains information about product type, make, model, manufacturing year, price and trader. When the prospective buyer has declared himself satisfied with the selection from the data base, he receives a fax copy on up to 30 proposals with all the information required to complete a deal. At the same time, he receives an invoice for 46 euros, equivalent to approximately £30.
The role of the selected national trade publications will be, among other things, to interest their established and prospective advertisers/sellers of used machines in a complementary marketing channel, adapted to the computer age and its inherent opportunities, quick updating among others. If the advertisers have not already computerized their inventory routines, they will be offered an easily used and industry adapted inventory holding system in the seller's own language via the publication. A new and simple way of finding the right machine at the right price on the market of their choice is created for the readers of the publication.
