SSC Satellitbild in Sweden is increasing the number of satellite images of cityscapes that can be accessed over the Internet.

Moscow and Paris are now added to SSC's visual Internet portfolio that already includes Chicago, Hong Kong, Lisbon, Stockholm and New York.
As part of the company's commitment to make further images of the world's major cities available to a wider audience,
the company will add one city a month as the service grows.
According to Christer Andersson, sales manager, the Spacepix service is the first of its kind to offer high quality satellite images over the Internet for a small charge. For a cost of $7.75, a 1000 by 800 pixel image can be downloaded in either the JPEG or Tiff formats. These high quality, natural colour images can be incorporated into commonly used word processing and graphics programs or printed out on a high quality printer.
The image is straightforward to obtain. With any browser program, the user first call up the Spacepix home page on www.spacepix.com. The desired part of the city map is selected and once the credit card information has been
completed, the image can be downloaded immediately. As security those buying an image are issued with a password, valid for 24 hours, allowing the image to be download again in case of technical problems.
An additional feature is the ability to send free electronic postcards to be delivered to your friends' e-mail addresses.
Growing interest
Christer Andersson, says that in addition to the general public, existing Spacepix images are increasingly used by small commercial companies and graphic designers to add a new perspective to their own business images.
"We are also actively encouraging web users to incorporate our images into their sites," says Christer Andersson. "All we ask is a link to the spacepix site and that we are allowed a review of the website before it is released."
