Faster demolition of concrete buildings with less dust and noise

The Swedish company Atlas Copco Construction Tools is launching three new crushers with hydraulic rotation. Earlier models had free rotation through 360Ý. Hydraulic rotation ensures high precision, especially when the carrier has a long boom and is working vertically. The new design speeds up demolition work, and reduces carrier wear.

Environmentally friendly
Environmental demands on demolition of concrete buildings are becoming increasingly strict in many countries. The demand for materials recycling is also increasing. Because of difficulties in obtaining gravel, Holland and Denmark
are taking a lead in recycling building demolition waste.
In Holland, some 70% of building rubble is now re-cycled.
Also, the EU is issuing regulations on dust emissions from demolition of concrete buildings. Use of a crusher in demolition work minimises dust, because the concrete is reduced to rubble by the jaws of the tool.

Low noise
Carrier vibration is much less than with other methods of demolition. This provides a better working environment for the operator. Lower noise levels are another important environmental aspect, especially in built-up areas. The process noise from crushing is not higher than the carrier engine noise. The crusher jaws are causing a noise level less than 70 dBA.

Cost effective
A concrete crusher, in combination with pulverising pads to reduce the concrete to rubble, makes an attractive investment. A entrepreneur can be paid for the demolition, and resell the crushed concrete for road-building and the reinforcing rods to steelworks. Demolition using crushers offers considerable time saving in comparison with other methods, which means a major reduction in overall costs.
The new crushers are available in three weight classes: 2,100, 2,900, and 4,200 kilos, with model designations HCC2000R, HCC2700R and HCC4000R. A dual-action valve in the motor prevents damage to the rotation system under heavy shock loading.
The crusher jaws have a pulverising force of 470 - 780 tons at the centre, and their wide opening allows crushing of concrete up to 1,290 mm thick. The jaws also have shears for cutting reinforcing rods of diameters of 58, 63 and
80 mm respectively.

Crushers are environmentally cleaner and allow recycling of concrete and steel reinforcing rods. They also produce less noise and dust than other methods of demolition. And not the least they are cost effective.
