Baxter Now Distributing
Stille Surgical Instruments

Precision surgical instruments from Stille AB of Sweden are now being distributed in North America by the V. Mueller division of Baxter Healthcare Corp. A leading instrument manufacturer for 150 years, Stille AB is best known for such instruments as its "Super Cut" scissors, which combine a knife edge ground on one blade with a scissor edge ground on the paired blade to provide precision-cutting performance in such procedures as reconstructive and plastic surgery.

The Stockholm-based company Stille, which also manufactures high-quality instruments for other surgical specialties, says the new arrangement will make it "much easier" than before for hospitals and clinics to obtain its instruments. "Baxter is well-represented all over North America by some 55 sales specialists who make regular visits," notes Öystein Lind, the company's spokesman.
Repairs and sharpening will also be simplified, thanks to the American company's OnSite Surgical Instrument Repair specialists. "Their vans cover the whole region and their people have been trained to service our equipment," he says.
Most hospitals and clinics will also find their purchasing and inventory overheads minimized, since they are already dealing with Baxter on a regular basis, Lind points out."They are the strongest player on the market, so our products being available through their network means that purchasing and inventory costs are optimized," he says.
