Scandinavian Technical Fair strengthen its position as the primary industrial trade fair for the Baltic region

This year there will be more opportunities than ever before to establish international business contacts at Scandinavia's largest industrial trade fair, Scandinavian Technical Fair with Machine Tools 2000 arranged in Stockholm October 17-21. The fair has grown 20 per cent in size from last year and will include some 650 exhibitors representing 1300 companies from 25 countries, among others Russia, Poland, Taiwan, China, USA, France, Japan, UK and Germany

- One effect of the expansion, is that we expect to attract an even larger number of business and technologically interested people compared with 40 000 visitors last year, says Björn Haraldson, project manager for the Scandinavian Technical Fair.

- We know that a great number of exhibitors are very interested in developing their business in the Scandinavian and Baltic region. I am certain that we can provide them with a wide range of opportunities.
The fair may be a Scandinavian event by name, but is in fact very much an international trade show, with exhibitors and representatives of corporations and organisations from all over the world. Research from last year has shown that business worth over 1 billion dollar was generated among exhibitors for the following 12 months.
- It is also the number one fair and congress centre of the Baltic Sea area, continues Haraldson. The addition of 14 000 square meters in our new hall means that we now have a total of 55 000 square meters for fair operations. This will help to further strengthen our leading position.

The exhibition will feature five separate areas. One area, Machine Tools, has grown considerably since 1998 and is now 25 per cent larger. Another area, The Future, presents the Swedish combat aircraft "Gripen" (The Griffin) as a symbol of the high-tech product development taking place in Scandinavia. This area is intended to become the natural meeting place for business and organisations that deal with product development, innovation and research. The three other areas are: Industrial Computing, Industrial Technology and Robotics.

- The robotics area serves as a preparation for the International Symposium of Robotics that will take place in Stockholm in 2002, adds Haraldson. The event also marks the international importance of the Scandinavian market in the robotics area.
