Advanced workwear suitable for severe weather
Clothes that can stand up to the worst of the weather are now being introduced by Snickers, the Swedish manufacturer of workwear. "These are our most advanced garments so far, with lots of details that facilitate demanding outdoor work", says Per-Henrik Magnusson, product development manager of the company. "These have had five years of testing and development."
For those who work outdoors even when the weather is at its worst, with rain and wind, the choice of clothes can be crucial for the work performance. The working clothes must give protection and at the same time feel comfortable and not hinder the work.
Snickers, who have specialized in functional workwear for more than 20 years, have developed a series of working clothes, called Climate, they are suitable for people carrying out demanding work in harsh climates.
"We particularly want to emphasize the flexibility and the specially designed details, which have been adapted precisely for those with high demands", says Per-Henrik Magnusson.
Climate are multi-layered garments that can be adapted for differing weather conditions with the aid of linings. The series is a further development of the winter garments for extreme cold presented last year.
The outer layer is made from a cordura fabric that lets out perspiration, but gives efficient protection against rain and wind. Resistance against water penetration is 3, where class 3 is the best (according to CE prENV 343).
"We have developed this very hard-wearing fabric ourselves", says Per-Henrik Magnusson, "and we are using rain-proof zips that are also fairly exclusive. These have been fitted under the arms to increase ventilation further.
The jacket also contains a wealth of refinements intended to facilitate work and increase well-being. It is longer at the back, so one can sit on it, but shorter at the front, so as not to chafe. The back and the front can be attached to give protection against wind. The pull tabs on the pockets are well-dimensioned and so constructed that one does not have to hold the pocket in order to open or close it. The hood is large with an edge at the front and has a sliding attachment so as not to impede head movements. These are just a few details.
The jacket is available in three lengths and six different widths. There is also a fleece jacket that can be used either as a lining or separately.
"With the lining, the jacket is warmer, yet still not bulky but flexible and functional", says Per-Henrik Magnusson.
Trousers are also available, made from the same waterproof material as the jacket and with many of the details that have made Snickers' workwear known and popular: tool hangers, large pockets with flaps, bellows pockets and knee protection pockets. The amount of fabric is dimensioned so as not to pull when kneeling and at the bottom of the leg there is a hook to attach to shoes or boots.
"These must be the most hard-wearing trousers on the market" Per-Henrik Magnusson believes. "These garments are aimed at those professionals who are forced to work outdoors under extremely severe weather conditions and who place great demands on their working clothes. The Climate range is one of the best we have ever made."
The garments are certified according to prENV 343 "Protection against bad weather".
