Adjustable propellers increase boats versatility

An adjustable propeller for outboard motors is currently being launched. The propeller's special design with revolving blades enables boat owners to set the propeller's pitch and adjust performance themselves. This enables the boat to operate at an optimum level when carrying both light and heavy loads.

This is the first time a propeller has been manufactured with adjustable pitch and replaceable blades. The ProPulse propeller is a Swedish invention with a worldwide patent.
It can be adjusted to five different levels and boat owners can vary the pitch themselves. By doing so, the propeller can be adjusted to suit the engine's revolutions and the boat performs at its best.
"As boat owners are able to match the boat's use with the motor's power, ultimate performance can be achieved in combination with the lowest level of fuel consumption," says Hans Åkerlund at ProPulse AB. This is particularly handy for people using the boat for many different purposes, such as water skiing or fishing and carrying light or heavy loads.
The replaceable propeller blades can be replaced on the spot if damage occurs. The blades are made of a composite which, according to the manufacturer, is fully recyclable and corrosion-free. The composite is 40 per cent lighter than aluminium which reduces stress on transmission and gear mechanisms, ensuring a longer life for the boat engine.
The propeller concept is available in four different models and suits most outboard motors with 30 to 150 horse power. This concept claims to simplify logistics and warehousing since the four models replace the sixty different models with traditional propeller systems used before.
"We are currently launching the product in Scandinavia and Germany through the retailer Hermann Gotthardt AB which distributes its products via Watski dealers. We are also looking for retailers in other viable markets," says Hans Åkerlund.
