New style gingerbread biscuits launched at this years Anuga

Swedish gingerbread biscuits have become an increasingly popular international biscuit product, especially in connection with Christmas celebrations. With its coming investment in the exhibition at the major Anuga trade fair in Cologne the Swedish company Annas Pepparkakor AB, the world's leading manufacturer, wants to show that gingerbread biscuits are a year-round product with significant potential in other situations and in the Central European market.

Already 35% of the annual production of more than 2,000 tonnes is currently exported. After successes in some 20 export markets including North America, where some 40 large containers are shipped annually, the UK and France, there are also great hopes for significant growth in the German market.
New at this year's Anuga is a range of new tastes for those markets, such as almond, orange, lemon and mint chocolate in 150 g consumer packs.
Annas Pepparkakor have already won acceptance in Germany for their traditional gingerbread biscuits, in beautifully decorated 400 g tins, and the gingerbread houses that are so popular at Christmas time. The main distribution channel has been the well-known Ikea chain.
Annual production at the factories in Stockholm, whose history dates from 1927, is currently 2,100 tonnes, which makes the company the world's largest of its kind. The company anticipates that an on-going investment phase of more than SEK 10 million, including a new fully automated oven line, will consolidate this position in the future.
