Swedish speciality increasing on international markets
The Swedish family company Annas Pepparkakor AB has, through efficient production and modern marketing, become the world's largest manufacturer of Swedish thin biscuits and has succeeded in introducing Swedish thin biscuits to some twenty countries. Today, over 1 300 tons are exported, corresponding to 50% of the annual production of 2 600 tons. This means over 500 million biscuits which, in turn, means 300 000 produced biscuits per hour. The company has had assistance from another Swedish successful company in the form of its biggest customer, IKEA, who sells the biscuits in many of its stores around the world. At SIAL 2000, the whole product range of ANNA´s thins will be presented in the Swedish pavilion. An interesting fact in this context is that ANNA´s, with its almost 500 000 "construction kits", is also the world's largest "house builder". It is a Swedish tradition - and most recently thanks to IKEA's stores, also a French, German, English and Italian one - to build gingerbread houses, especially at Christmas time.
Today, ANNA´s offers a wide range of flavours including almond, orange, lemon or chocolate mint flavours, in addition to the original recipe from 1929. ANNA´s thins are, according to the manufacturer, ideal for both hot and cold beverages.
