Digital HF receiver+8 way multicoupler for radio communication

PRESS RELEASE
May 29, 1996
More efficient digital HF receiver
and 8 way multicoupler for multiple
operator radio communications

A newly configured, high performance digital HF receiver, and a new, 8-way multicoupler are announced by US based communication specialists, TCI/BR. The Model 8174 receiver features an IU 45mm (1.75 inch), rack mount enclosure and a software based, virtual control panel using a Windows compatible, graphics interface.
Spectrum occupancy monitoring, military and intelligence communications, ship to shore stations, and civilian applications in the VLF and HF ranges are among potential uses for both products.

Upgraded HF Receiver
The 8174 receiver is provided with a source code for the virtual control panel which allows the user to customize the panel for their own, specialized requirements. Up to 31 receivers can be addressed on a single EIA-485 bus from a standard PC computer serial interface. The receiver also supports RS-232, 422 and 423 interfaces. Demodulation and filtering use digital signal processing, which allows a large selection of band widths to be available.
The receiver is ideally suited for remote operation and can be connected directly to high speed modems the company claims.

New HF Multicoupler
TC/BR's Model 8105 HF multicoupler provides combinations of up to 64 outputs, and 8 inputs from receive antennas. Housed in a single 4U, 48cm (19 inch) relay rack enclosure, the 8105 accommodates 8 independent, 8-way modules, configured in 6 standard combinations for a total of 8 inputs and 64 outputs. Each multicoupler module contains a high dynamic range RF amplifier to compensate for signal loss due to the 8 way power split, and provides amplitude and phase matched output.
The manufacturer states that the 8105 is ideal for RF distribution from multiple element receive antenna arrays used for radio direction finding, or for RF distribution from a single HF source to multi-element transmit arrays.

Sunnyvale, California based TCI/BR supplies specialized, medium and high frequency (MH/HF), radio systems operating in the VLF/HF band. Its product range includes high quality, MF/HF antennas, turnkey broadcasting stations, sophisticated HF communications, signal collection and direction finding systems./ins
