The most powerful in the range of Compact hydraulic motors has been introduced by Haegglunds Drives AB in Sweden. The CA 210 builds upon the high performance of existing models of the range to give greater choice in application and torque output.

The Compact range of hydraulic motors is designed for easy installation and low maintenance in demanding environments through the life-time of the machine says the company.
This model is suitable for a range of applications within the construction industry such as in winch drives for pile drivers,top drives for earth augers,drilling rigs trenchers,etc. Here, the motor's compact size, simple load control, low maintenance and ability to free wheel and handle shock loads provide the characteristics required in these situations.
Within its optimum operating range, the CA 210 has an efficiency of 94 per cent though the drive can maintain a minimum of 90 per cent throughout the entire operating range. This takes the total number of models in the Compact range to five that comprises the CA, 50,70,100 and 140 with the first model introduced only three years ago.

Common components
One of the advantages of the range is that there is a high degree of commonality of components thanks to the modular design.
The compact design has few components resulting in a motor that is small, simple and sturdy with low inertia. The companys says that this range has the highest power/weight ratio of any motor in its class. The unit is a radial piston motor with a rotating shaft and stationary housing. It has a rotation speed which is continuously variable from standstill to maximum and it can stop instantly. Yet, the motor can operate at high speeds and keep energy losses to a minimum.
This range of motors are characterised by the fact that they are small, light and have a high power/weight ratio.
Such power capacity in a compact form gives equipment manufacturers more flexibility in the design of their own machines. Amongst the first applications for this hydraulic motors are winch applications where weight versus power is an important consideration.
As important is the ease with which the motor can be mounted with conventional mounting on to a shaft or a splined version that allows direct connection inside the
central of the motor. In addition, the motor has been
designed for long life and low maintenance which is
especially important in demanding operations.

Technical Information: Capable of producing a maximum torque of 73000 Nm, the CA210 can operate at full and half displacement rates of 13200 cm3/rev and 6600 cm3/rev, respectively and has a maximum speed of 115 rev/min.
The five models in the range have maximum power ratings from 275 kW for the CA50 to 800kW for CA210 which still weighs only 495 kg.
