New aerial work platforms feature rapid elevation and wide out-reach

Two new 24.38 m (80-foot) aerial work platforms with articulating booms can reach full elevation within 50 seconds and extend more than 15.24 m (50 feet) horizontally to reach over obstacles. The CE-approved 800 Series boom lifts from U. S. company JLG Industries are available for purchase or rent worldwide.

New Boom Design
The new lifts are the first to use the company's QuikStik (U. S. patent pending) boom design which allows the platform to be lowered to the ground while the tower boom is fully raised. The operator can therefore step into the platform and reach full elevation less than 50 seconds later.
The series includes Model 800A, with an 80-foot articulating boom, and Model 800AJ, with a 1.83 m (6-foot) articulating jib boom for extra positioning flexibility in the elevated position.
With up-and-over clearance of more than 9.14 m (30 ft.) and horizontal outreach of more than 15.24 m (50 ft.), the lifts offer extensive access. They are especially useful for reaching over machinery or obstacles in indoor or outdoor use.
The work platform remains horizontal and stable while the boom is rotated, extended, raised or lowered. The lifts may be maneuvered forward or backward and steered in any direction by the operator from the work platform, even while the boom is extended.

Operator Comfort and Efficiency
The boom and chassis were designed using computerized stress modeling to minimize bounce and sway. Full proportional controls and a cushion cylinder on the main boom lift cylinder provide a soft stop at full extension. These features can give greater confidence to operators working at elevated heights.
Operator controls include 40 percent fewer switches than previous models. Drive and steer controls are operated with one hand, while the other hand operates lift and swing controls. Access to the platform requires only a short step up from ground level, making it easy for operators to carry tools when entering or exiting.
Optional features include air lines or welding leads at the platform, a variable speed dial for smoother proportional control of telescope, rotation and jib functions. The lifts are available in two-wheel and four-wheel steering configurations, with gasoline, diesel or dual-fuel engines.

Simplified Maintenance
The work platform is a five-piece modular unit, allowing convenient repair or replacement of worn or damaged parts. The standard .91 m x 1.83 m (36 x 72 inch) steel platform can be easily exchanged for the larger, optional .91 m x 2.44 m (36 x 96 inch) model.
Both the upper and lower control stations can be quickly

disconnected for bench testing or field replacement. A swing-out tray provides easy access to both sides of the engine.

Extensive Applications
Applications for articulating boom lifts include construction, especially non-residential and infrastructure; mechanical, electrical, utility and painting contractors; manufacturing and industrial facilities, including automotive and aircraft plants; petroleum and chemical refineries; textile, food processing and fabricating plants; and entertainment facilities.
