ABB Flexible Automation has launched FlexPalletizer, a standardized automatic pallet handling, loading and unloading system. The system enables consumer goods manufacturers to rapidly adapt their palletizing function to meet changing packaging and product requirements.

The system is a complete function package comprising a robot, infeed and outfeed conveyors, conveyor gates and controls, control cabinet, grippers, pallet stack frame and software. The FlexPalletizer can handle simultaneously up to three different products and pallets.
According to Mr. Barton Jory, Global FlexPalletizer Sales Manager, the system offers unrivalled flexibility for the fast paced consumer goods sector. "Palletizing patterns and case sizes can be changed in minutes using Windows-based software", Jory claims. "This allows companies to meet changing demands when they move into new export markets or have many products requiring different pallets and loading patterns."

The system is also fast. The IRB 640 robot at the heart of the package offers unrivalled performance with shorter cycle times and greater reach than other robots currently available, says Jory. In addition to handling pallets and any intermediate slip sheets, the robot can pick up as many as five boxes and place them individually as required.
Robot based system also offer good reliability. "Robots are highly reliable with near 100% availability being normal. Add to this our proven pre-tested and engineered control solutions and you have an extremely reliable package", Jory says.

Fast delivery and installation
Being a standardized solution, a FlexPalletizer system can typically be delivered within four weeks and commissioned in less than a week.
ABB sales engineers are equipped with powerful sales support software allowing them to specify and price a system during a single meeting with a potential customer. The package can include full training for operators at a local ABB training centre.
