Childresistant, sealed plastic pack
for medicinal products and health foods

Duma Twist-off is a range of childresistant and ergonomic plastic jars for medicinal products and health food preparations currently being introduced by Duma International AB of Stockholm, Sweden. The jars are made from re-usable raw materials and are available in 30 to 150 ml sizes. With its high-pitch thread, the cap is intended to be easy to unscrew, but despite this to give a very tight seal. It has easy-grip knurling and is also available in a version with ‘wings’, which make the jar easy to open, even for people with low finger strength.

Duma Twist-off jars are childresistant-tested by the Institute of Ergonomics in Stockholm and meet all the requirements of EN 28317, ISO 8317:1989 and the FDA
(Food and Drug Administration). According to tests done by the Danish Technical Institute, the impermeability of the packs far exceeds the standards laid down by the USP (United States Pharmacopeia).
A clearly visible tamper-evident band attached at the cap gives a visual seal and makes it easy for the consumer to check that the pack is unopened. For added safety, the ring stays on the jar when the jar is opened. The cap can be fitted with a desiccant container, so that the pack can also be used for products that are sensitive to moisture.
The jars are made of impact-resistant polyethylene (HDPE, high-density polyethylene) and the caps are made of polypropylene (PP). Both materials are approved for medicinal product packs by the FDA and the BGA (Bundesgesundheitsamt). They can be recycled or burnt without giving rise to harmful substances.
A large proportion of the new pack range is made by injection blow moulding, to give high impermeability. The large opening diameter of the jars permits a high filling rate.
The new jars are produced in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). Among other things, this is said to guarantee a very high level of quality control and hygiene in production.
The possibility exists of extending the bottom of the jar, for example to contain a daily dose or an information slip.
