components through international
emergency help line

EHL, Emergency Help Line, was formed
in 1990 as a solution to the problem
of finding urgently needed out of
stock components for the electronics industry. The company claims a 90% success rate sourcing components all over the world through an international network of suppliers, usually within 24-hours of receiving a request for assistance. EHL has recently opened new offices in Chicago, Tokyo and Lyon which, together with its existing London, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm offices gives the company considerable international coverage. Other new subsidiaries are planned to be introduced during 1995.

According to Göran Axelsson, head of EHL’s U.S. opera- tions, the new offices will enable the company to work more efficiently on a rapidly moving market.
”We are a slim organization that works quickly helping to prevent production halts and allowing our clients to focus on running their business”, comments Axelsson who says that EHL’s services should not be regarded as a replacement for a client’s usual suppliers: ”We are there as a back up when immediate help is needed and a component is not available elsewhere”.
EHL traces parts on the international spot market using information about possible sources drawn from its owncomprehensive database. The company says that it can supply most types of electronic components for all kinds of production processes often finding them at local suppliers. Delivery times range from a few days to three weeks.
Clients fax their component part requests with a des-cription of the type of component required, quantity, part number, make and other important technical infor-
mation, to EHL’s local branch office where it is processed. Trace and response takes less than 24 hours.
Once the required component has been found, and following client approval of an FOB quote that includes price and delivery time, the necessary customs and transport documentation is finalized and the part is dispatched. Deliveries are made through an international network of couriers. To date, clients have included a large number of top-brand companies such as Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens.
