Many companies now use Internet/intranet technology to communicate with customers, suppliers, and the rest of the world. This development increases the demand for fast and simple products which reduce development time in web activities. To meet this demand, the Swedish company Infovav AB, of Linköping, has launched Roxen Challenger, a web-server that is both fast and simple to use.

‘For advertising people, Roxen Challenger is easy to use, much simpler than other web-servers’, claims Lars Mårelius, Infovav Managing Director, ‘It makes for considerably shorter development times in production, because the development of the design and information content can run in parallel, as long as the underlying structure has been decided upon and coded’.
To make it flexible and easy to extend, the web server is based entirely on modules. The modular approach also enables a number of pages to be changed at once without difficulty, as well as easy creation of icons or logos.
The G-text module, for example, creates headings for all web pages in the desired colour, size and font. This means that the heading font for all pages can be amended with a few mouse-clicks, even while the server is running. This reduces support costs and increases the server’s availability.
‘Those who, like advertising agencies, create home pages, face far fewer restrictions when using Roxen Challenger’, Mårelius points out. ‘The server is easy to instal, something that anyone can find out for themselves if they try the starter pack which can be accessed free of charge on the Internet’.
Infovav’s HTML-like control language, RXML, makes it easy to introduce access counters, for example, or to create attractive home pages optimised for all Internet browsers. Built-in macros also enable users to simplify handling of page layout.
Roxen Challenger runs on OS/2 and Unix, and, before long, will also run on NT.
Infovav develops services and products for electronic communication with a focus on the Internet, an area in which the company has long experience.
