Business concept
To develop, manufacture and market high quality breathing and eye protection systems. The products should be comfortable and with a high level of protection.

History
The Company was founded in the 1920s by mining engineer, Ivan Emanuel Sundström. He observed that breathing and eye protection in the steelworks and mines at that time were highly defective, and this gave him the idea for the Company, then known as Sundström's Respirators. At the beginning of the seventies, export investment was started and the Company got its present name, Sundström Safety AB. In 1976, production moved from Stockholm to Lagan in Småland.

Products
The Company produces and develops protective masks
(full and half masks), and accessories for them such as hoods, compressed air filters, and compressed air additives. Also included in the range of products are gas and particle filters. All production, except injection moulding takes place under our own direction.

Product and quality development
Sundström competes with large-scale international companies and therefore invests large resources in product development and quality. The Company has its own engineering qualifications and advanced test laboratory, and has been certified under ISO 9001 since 1993. The level of quality should meet or exceed customers' expectations.

Environmental policy
At present, the Company is carrying out an environmental protection project aimed at environmental certification during 1998.
Ownership
The Company is 100 per cent owned by the Sundström family,
5 people in all.

Organisation
Under the parent company, Sundström Safety AB, are two sales companies: Sundström Safety International in London and Sundström Safety Inc. in Los Angeles. A sales project will shortly be established in Germany. The Nordic countries are the home market. Germany, England, North America and Australia are other large markets. Sales both in Sweden and abroad are via distributors, particularly safety wholesalers. The products are sold in over 30 countries all told.

Turnover and export ratio
The annual turnover is approx. 60 million kronor. The export ratio is just over 75 per cent.
