CeBit première for unwinders and rewinders with wider paper web
Demands for ever higher performance and quality have led to greatly increased demand for high-volume laser printers. At CeBit 96, Strålfors, one of the major players in the paper handling sector, is therefore presenting two new machines, the Unwinder 52 CD and the Rewinder 102 CD. With a paper width of 520 mm, they can handle two A4 sheets across the width plus gluing strings for heat sealing to prepared consignments.
The new machines are in the Strålfors Lasermax series. This is a complete paper handling system designed to match the speed of the printer at all rates that occur.
“Our position today is strong, with 18 different machines and software packages. No other company has the same breadth and spearhead status, and we shall be showing this off at the CeBit Fair”, says Åke Franzén, Head of Marketing for Lasermax in Europe.
At CeBit 96, Strålfors will also be setting up a configuration with two printers in series for double-sided printing, followed by cutting and sorting into bundles which are automatically secured with a cellophane band in a new machine.
The special MIS ( Management Information System) monitoring software optimises production and enables the entire process to be supervised from a single location. The software indicates when a fault occurs, showing where it is and the nature of the fault. Barcodes or ‘markless separation’ are used to control all printouts.
Lasermax comprises an entire range of microprocessor-based products such as unwinders, folders, job separators, rewinders, cutters, stackers, colour station for printing, sorters, plastic wrapper and Max Laser 180. This is a robot which sorts, stores and delivers the printed-out jobs after the job separator or plastic wrapper, providing a total solution for data handling under complete security.
Systems have been installed at several major companies all over the world, including P.B.S. in Denmark, Peugeot in France, British Telecom in England, RABO Bank in the Netherlands and Volvo in Sweden. One of the largest installations is at the computing centres of the German savings banks in Berlin and Leipzig (dvs) and at Fellesdata in Norway. All installations are total solutions from Strålfors and are controlled by MIS. This makes it possible to supervise, control and optimise the process for an availability of 99 percent. Combined with Excel, this system provides the personnel with production statistics and troubleshooting alarms.
Today Strålfors Lasermax is operating in more than 1500 installations at leading companies in some twenty countries./ins

In addition to new machines for 520 mm width, Strålfors will be exhibiting its Max Laser 180 robot. It takes the finished publications and places them in post boxes that can only be accessed by an approved person with a computer code or magnetic card.
