New software offers complete e-mail solution

PRESS RELEASE

New software offers complete e-mail solution

A total solution for electronic message processing is on the way. By writing just one message, you can reach contacts via Internet, fax, or pager. This is possible using Mimelink software from the Swedish company Advox AB.

‘Nowadays, a company is just as likely to have an e-mail address as a fax number’, explained Stefan Sjödin, Advox AB President. ‘so it makes sense to use the existing internal mail system for all types of message processing’.
He described a situation in which someone has to change a meeting at the last moment, and by writing a single message can reach all delegates, whether they are on the same LAN, or contactable by Internet, pager, or fax. The actual form in which the receiver gets the message need not concern the sender.

Easy to install
Mimelink software provides a transparent Internet link for cc:Mail/Notes, Lotus Notes, Ms Mail/Exchange, and MS Exchange Server. One of the advantages of this application is that the user does not have to learn anything new to use the e-mail system.
The manufacturer claims the product is easy to install using a guide which signposts the whole operation step by step. With a single mouse-click, the program imports all addresses from any existing company mail system and converts them to Internet format.
The software runs under MS-DOS, Windows NT, or Windows 95.

Heading off hackers
The product is designed to MIME standards to handle character sets and file types. It functions as a converter between Internet and e-mail system formats. Messages, headings, attached files (MIME/UUENCODE), acknowledgements, and OLE objects (if the receiver has Mimelink) can all be sent. Connection to the Internet can be either dial-up or leased-line via STMP or UUCP.
Mimelink also checks for viruses anything copied to the network’, added Sjödin.

Looking for representatives
The company has operated primarily in the European market, but has recently opened a subsidiary in the US. ‘We’ve had outstanding success in Sweden, and we’re convinced there’s a big international market for this product, so we’re now on the lookout for representatives in the United States’, said Sjödin.
Advox was formed in 1992 and designs software for electronic mail, paging, and computer integrated telephony. The concept is known as Advox Messaging and includes Advox Mailgate, Advox Mimelink, and Advox Mobilcall for electronic mail./ins
