Condition monitoring made safe -
SPM moves into the EX market
SPM Instrument AB has begun deliveries of its intrinsically safe tester T2001EX for machine condition monitoring in potentially explosive environments. The instrument measures bearing condition, machine vibration and rotational speed. It supplies evaluated readings, direct indication and machine status in terms of good, reduced or bad.
The company, which has been active in the industry since 1970, has developed various methods to prevent problems in industrial installations caused by badly lubricated or damaged roller bearings, mechanical misalignment or excessive vibration. Instrument readings are immediately evaluated and displayed as condition readings: green for good, red for bad and yellow for developing problems.
The T2001EX is a hand-held logger designed for use as part of a systematic preventative maintenance programme. The easy to operate instrument meets Nordic NEMKO and European CENELEC standards. All accessories, shock pulse and vibration transducers and the tachometer probe for optical and contact speed measurements are intrinsically safe.
With the supporting software Condmaster, the measuring point data and measuring results are transferred directly between the PC and the T2001EX. The instrument is also suitable for spot checks with manual data input.
Based on the Shock Pulse Method originally developed by SPM, the T2001EX can detect bearing problems at a very early stage. Other common mechanical faults, such as out-of-balance, mechanical looseness or wear are detected by measuring vibration severity according to ISO 2372. The PC-based Condmaster software package provides the user with an efficient adminstration tool even in large-scale condition monitoring activities. The programme supplies coloured graphics for trending, alarm lists, work orders, check lists and can also handle the data from all SPM instruments as well as customer specific measuring systems./ins
