Perstorp Pharma

Based at Lund in Sweden, Perstorp Pharma was formed in 1985. In September of that year it became a division of Pernovo which in turn was one of the seven trading divisions of the Perstorp Group.
With 801 employees, Pernovo recorded sales of SEK 998 million in 1995. The Perstorp Group's annual sales were SEK 13 billion.
Perstorp AB was founded in 1881 and became Scandinavia's first plastics manufacturer in the twenties. Production of the clear laminate which became known as ‘Perstorpsplattan' began around that time.
As a chemical and plastics manufacturer, Perstorp is a growing company with 9,900 employees and factories on 30 sites in 16 countries. Some 90% of its sales are outside Sweden.
Perstorp Pharma is a smaller medical products manufacturer operating principally in the therapy area, especially in the treatment of chronic wounds, where Iodosorb, a starch-iodine complex, dominates production.
The Iodosorb treatment concept forms 60% of Perstorp Pharma activity. Other Perstorp products include an ‘ointment stocking' for the compression treatment of varicose ulcers, Silon skin salve for treating pressure sores, and Wartec for genital warts.
About 80% of Perstorp Pharma sales are outside Sweden. The largest market is in the UK, followed by the USA, Japan, Greece, Germany, Argentina, Taiwan, and others.
Perstorp Pharma has sites at Perstorp and Lund.
The production and analysis divisions, together with the quality control division, are located at Perstorp.
At Lund, in the Ideon Research Park, the clinical and preclinical divisions are located, along with administration, marketing, and Swedish sales management.
In the United States, Healthpoint Medical is a developer, manufacture and marketer of over-the-counter drugs, prescription pharmaceuticals and medical devices for wound care. Founded in 1992, Healthpoint is a division of DPT Laboratories Inc. located in San Antonio, TX. DPT Laboratories was founded in 1937 and is a privately held developer and manufacturer of ethical and OTC dermatological products that has grown to become a leader in the development and manufacturing of a wide range of pharmaceutical products with an impressive array of clients.
The UK sales office of Perstorp Pharma is located just outside London.
Perstorp Pharma has around 70 employees. Managing Director is Per Sjöberg, and Anders Holmgren is Marketing Manager.
