Save money and the environment
with new bag sealer

Coffee that loses its taste, crisps that go soft and washing powder bags that leak - everyday problems which, until now, have been difficult to solve. Paper bags and the much more common aluminium bags are hard to seal tight. But now Twixit is being launched - a bag sealer that can handle all types of bags and can be used again and again.

The best way to let coffee powder retain its taste is not to pour it into a jar but to keep it in its bag. But because it's difficult to seal the aluminium bag, many people opt to pour the coffee. Paper bags, for example those containing porridge, are also difficult to seal tight. Plastic bags can be sealed by tying but then there are problems re-using the bag, and this is neither economical nor environmentally friendly. Chemical products such as washing powder can have a strong smell and some of the modern refill bags are tricky to seal.
Lindén International in southern Sweden has developed Twixit, a bag sealer handling all types of bags from small plastic bags and paper bags to large bin bags, which can be used again and again. When tested by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute the bag sealers were opened and closed 100,000 times without a single one of the sealers breaking. The test was carried out both at room temperature and at - 20 degrees Celsius.
'Twixit can be used both in the freezer and the microwave,' says Tom Lindén, Managing Director of Lindén International. 'If the shape changes, it can be recovered by boiling the sealer or putting it in the dishwasher.'
The bag sealer is a registered design in a large number of countries, among them France, Italy, Great Britain, Germany and USA. It is made from polypropylene, which is approved for contact with food, and comes in ten colours and five sizes. The smallest size, 40 mm long, is new and should be of particular interest for household use. Other sizes are 60, 80, 110 and 140 mm.
Twixit will be on display at the Ambiente '96 trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, 24-28th February 1996./ins.
