The steel portfolio for the automotive industry comprises a range of high-strength grades. The sector’s present focus on fuel efficiency, light structures, and low material costs, however, requires the application of ultra-high-strength formable steels. To achieve the strength required, OEMs have relied on multiphase steels since the 1990s. Finnish steel-maker Ruukki was one of the first suppliers to invest in multiphase steel production and is a forerunner at the cutting edge in the development and production of hot-dip galvanised Dual Phase (DP) and Complex Phase (CP) steels, which the company markets under the brand name LITEC®.
Ruukki is the first company in the world to launch a flexibly designed roof for an ordinary single-family home to harness solar thermal energy. This new roofing product is the Ruukki Classic Solar Thermal Roof, which has been designed to generate energy both for domestic hot water and for heating. With Ruukki’s system, the integrated heat collector blends in virtually invisibly with Ruukki’s Classic roof without the need to mount separate thermal heat collectors. Ruukki Classic Solar improves a building’s energy efficiency.
Ruukki has designed a new Ramor protection panel, which is an innovative new approach to create safe rooms and fixed structures with superior resistance to explosions and ballistic threats. The panel also has excellent multi-hit capability and offers a modular, dimensionally accurate solution for advanced ballistic protection needs.
Ruukki, a European manufacturer and supplier of steel, showcases its Raex wear-resistant and Optim high-strength steels for construction and mining industry at the bC India 2013 International Trade Fair in Mumbai, India, 5 - 8 February 2013.
