New star on the satellite horizonwill be on show at Cable SatelliteMediacast

Only 80 cm in diameter and able to capture signals from up to 8 satellites simultaneously due to its unconventional design and function. We're talking about the Cybertenna multi-satellite dish, a new star on the satellite horizon. Preliminary field tests are said to have shown very good results, and series production will begin shortly. TeleWide, the company behind Cybertenna, will be represented at the Cable & Satellite Mediacast trade fair to be held in London at the end of May.

Lens antennae have become an industry talking point, and there is claimed to be a great deal of interest in this innovation. This particular antenna has recently undergone initial testing in Sweden with good results, and is about to enter series production. The company behind the product, TeleWide AB, forecasts production will start around midsummer 2001.
Cybertenna, which is of lens type, will enable reception without motor drive from up to eight satellites, while retaining focus.

The design of the dish obtains a wider spread with a stronger focus than is possible with a normal parabolic antenna, while at the same time providing better signal strength. Current dishes are well known for having difficulties in receiving signals from satellites that are in close proximity to each other, but the Cybertenna lens design enables more satellite coverage in a smaller diameter.
The dish has an aperture at the centre, which makes it much less sensitive to wind than conventional parabolas.
There is also an ambition for Cybertenna to become a future solution, since apart from satellite TV reception it could be used for wire-less communication, such as for Internet and other network systems via satellite. The dish is light, small and easy to install and handle, for maximum user-friendliness. Its modest diameter of only 80 cm. means that the user does not require official permission for installation and erection, which is commonly needed for larger satellite dishes in certain countries.
Representatives for Cybertenna will be present at a special presentation in connection with Cable & Satellite Mediacast in London from 21-23 May 2001.
