Oden Control at SPCI 2002 International premiere for precision-regulating gear technology
SPCI 2002, 4-6 JuneStockholm International Fairs Stand A21:30 (Alnab)
With industry applications for grammage regulation in pulp manufacture and for reduced emissions of sulphurous and nitrogenous air pollutants, the Oden Gear System is having its international premiere at this year's SPCI fair. Actuators based on this gear technology and with a 24 volt supply have made a rapid breakthrough in just about all Swedish paper mills. Examples include Assi Domän and Hallsta Pappersbruk. The food industry, led by the Danish company Faxe Bryggerier, as well as water and sewage treatment plants, have also been quick to adopt actuators with this new gear technology. Using a computer-optimised tooth geometry, inventor Gustav Rennerfelt has succeeded in creating the conditions for previously unheard of precision regulations within a series of areas, in particular within the paper and pulp industry. The Oden Gear System, which is characterised by extremely large potential revolution reductions (up to 450:1 in a single stage) using only two gear wheels, has properties which have proved to work well in many applications. Current examples include micro-actuators with precision requirements of thousandths of a millimetre for Italian flight simulators, intended to achieve exact regulation of small, fast hydraulic flows, up to flows of several cubic metres per second in water and sewage treatment works.
During SPCI, Alnab's stand will be premiering the new P 30 H electrical actuator, the first installation of which has just been completed for AB Norrenergi's heating plant in Solna, near Stockholm. Thanks to the potential for compact constructions, without having to compromise on high loading capacity and durability, it is anticipated that Oden Gears will find a series of applications and new industries. Current examples include special customised gears for Atlas Copco and the automotive industry.
