Genderless 60-amp power connector introduced for high current electronic applications
As the characteristics of electronic equipment continue to evolve towardhigher current requirements, design engineers are facing power handling issues similar to those in the electrical industry.Anderson Power Products, a U. S. company which has been manufacturing electrical connectors for over 100 years, is responding to this need with an expanding line of products for use in electronic equipment. The newest offering is a 60-amp genderless power connector for normal and hot-plug use.
The fully insulated SBO6Ø connector is designed for applications requiring high-current connections to a power source up to 600 volts, AC or DC. These include office equipment, UPS battery backup systems, telecom-munications, medical and other electronic equipment. The connector‚s recessed contacts meet the UL1950 Finger Probe Test. The flammability rating of the housing material meets the UL 94 V0 standard.
Connectors are available in different colored housings to indicate different voltages and mechanically keyed to assure that only like colors will mate.
The four-pole connector provides two additional poles of up to 30 amps each for auxiliary power, control or sensing functions. The hot-plug rating is 60 amps for 250 cycles @ 120V.
"Our products are currently in use by most major telecommunications OEMs because they meet requirements for rapid production as well as quick disconnect for efficient field serviceability," said Douglas Ritchie, the company‚s vice president for marketing.
Anderson Power Products, an ISO 9001 certified company, designs and manufactures standard and custom quick-disconnect power connectors. The company‚s products include modular singlepole and multipole connectors rated from 10 to 600 amps, up to 600 volts, AC or DC. SBO is a trademark and Anderson Power Products is a registered trademark of Anderson Power Products.
