Business Activities
Malå Geoscience provides products and specialists services within the geoscience sector. Based on a range of radar and related products, it covers activities such as minerals prospecting and ground water surveying.
In addition to its manufacturing activities in Sweden, the company offers consultancy services relating to high technology product development as well as an instrument hire service aimed at smaller organisations.

Product Range
To date, five products comprise the range of radar measurement and related instrumentation including antennae and data logging equipment. The company's sixty years' experience in the geoscience sector has led in recent years to the development of lightweight, portable systems that can speed up ground surveys with a reduced level of man power.
This has opened up new application areas in other industries such as construction, archaeology and utilities for the identification of small objects such as pipes, cables and cracks in buildings or sites.

Markets
Malå Geoscience operates in at least 50 countries throughout the world with major markets in Europe, the Far East, Africa and the USA.

Organisation
The company is split into four departments with a major research activity. Currently there are 29 employees mainly based in Sweden or at the company's new US subsidiary, Malå Geoscience USA Inc. It also operates a comprehensive customer service -supplying on site help where necessary.
The company sells either directly or through its world-wide network of distributors.

Turnover
Current turnover stands at almost 30m SEK which has represented a growth of 100 per cent over the past two years as business activities have expanded since privatisation.

Future Goals
The company is committed to continued broadening of its product range and expansion into new market sectors, particularly in the archaeology, civil engineering and construction fields.

Ownership
Malå Geoscience has been a privately owned company since 1994 when employees opted to buy a major share of the firm from the state. Today employees account for 60 per cent of ownership with two other major corporate shareholders owning the remaining shares.
