Swedish high-technology company grows
Emotron AB, the Swedish electric motor technology company, has acquired the Dutch company P.I.V. Eldutronik B.V. and the German sales company P.I.V. Eldutronik GmbH. This strengthens the company's position in the German and Dutch markets, while more than doubling turnover to about SEK 140 million.Emotron expects the acquisition to give it access to new sales channels and to enable it to increase investment in the development of advanced new control and drive systems for electric motors. The vendor is the German P.I.V. Antrieb Werner Reimers GmbH & Co KG.
"This acquisition is the natural continuation of our ten years' development co-operation with P.I.V. Eldutronik," says Leif Eriksson, MD of Emotron AB. "We now have the opportunity to strengthen our competence and development resources in electronic drive systems, particularly in the frequency inverter product area. At the same time we can increase investment in switched reluctance motors, a fast-growing area requiring access to qualified sales channels."The acquired companies become wholly-owned subsidiaries of Emotron AB and their names will be changed to Emotron B.V. and Emotron Antriebssysteme GmbH. According to Leif Eriksson, the acquisition will lead to synergy effects releasing resources for new projects.
Emotron AB has its head office in Helsingborg and specialises in developing, manufacturing and selling equipment for the control and monitoring of electric motor drive systems. It is one of the world's leading companies in drive systems based on SR (switched reluctance) motors, an area of technology that is now experiencing rapidly growing interest all over the world. Currently Emotron AB has 46 employees, but the acquisition is expected to increase the staff number to about 120 including the subsidiaries.
