Ensto is a Finnish based company which develops, manufactures and markets products for mainly electrical applications.

Brief history
The company was founded in 1958 in Porvoo, Finland, east of Helsinki. Initially, Ensto produced only electrical metal components, but today its product offer includes a wide range of products, systems and solutions for electrical needs in industrial, public and household applications.

Products & Organization
Divided into three business groups, the company's product range includes:

Ensto Installation
Electrical installation systems for buildings (installation material, light fittings, distribution boards, switchgears,and electrical heating systems)

Ensto Distribution
Transmission and distribution products for electricity and energy utilities (products for high-, medium- and low-voltage, industrial ceramics and fuses,underground cable and overhead line accessories, machines and tools, and products packages for railway electrification)

Ensto Industry
Components to meet the needs of the electro and electronic industries (accessories for switchgear and wiring, connectors, enclosures, products for airfield lighting, isolating transformers, metal and plastic products, tools, and automation for machining and assembly)

Turnover and personnel
The turnover in 1996 was MFIM 1,006, resulting in an operating profit before extraordinary items and income taxes of MFIM 53,5. The average number of personnel comprised 1,650 employees.

Production and sales organization
The Ensto Group today operates in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Hungaria and Ireland. Through agents and retailers, the company's products are sold in more than 50 countries. Sales by marketing region are approximately 51 per cent in Finland, 18 per cent in Sweden, 17 per cent in Norway, 8 per cent in the other EU countries, 5 per cent in other European countries and 1 per cent in other countries.
