There is now a vacuum pump designed especially for industrial processes that require large flows and deep vacuum levels. The Classic MP pump, which is reported to be easy to control, energy saving, reliable and practically maintenance-free, is designed not only for installation in machines used in manufacturing, packaging and automation processes, but also for individual applications, e.g., in the graphics industry.

Computer-operated vacuum and blow systems are said to make the printing process more efficient. Ultra Litho in Johannesburg has therefore commissioned the German press manufacturer KBA to install such a system in its new press, a 32 metre long Rapida 105. The system, called Piab Vacuum & Blow System, has been developed by the Swedish engineering company Piab and can be operated both from a PC on the printer's console as well as manually at the feeder and the delivery unit. According to the company, it is possible to reduce the make-ready time significantly by saving previous settings, thereby resulting in increased productivity.

A new electropneumatic pump module, the AVM 5050, has now been introduced for controlling and monitoring vacuum systems that are designed to move materials using suction cups. The module has been developed by the vacuum technology company Piab to ensure the safe and rapid handling of sheet metal parts, etc., and to minimise expensive downtime and rejects in the automotive and white goods industries. The module, which can be controlled from a PC or PLC, has a built-in energy-saving feature and ensures that the vacuum is maintained in the event of a power cut.

New vacuum conveyors meet the needs of foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals sectors

The Vacuum technology company Piab has been developing new vacuum conveyors. The development work is based on technology employed in the company's vacuum conveyor, C33. It was the first vacuum conveyor to satisfy the requirements of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The new conveyors, available in varying sizes, are developed to meet the same criteria and every component is approved by the USDA.
