Compressed air-driven vacuum pump combines increased productivity with reliable performance

There is now a vacuum pump designed especially for industrial processes that require large flows and deep vacuum levels. The Classic MP pump, which is reported to be easy to control, energy saving, reliable and practically maintenance-free, is designed not only for installation in machines used in manufacturing, packaging and automation processes, but also for individual applications, e.g., in the graphics industry.

"The vacuum pump is oil-free and robust with no moving parts," explains Niklas Svahn, Market Segment Manager at PIAB. Increased productivity and reliable performance are combined in one minimum-maintenance pump. As installation costs are also lower than those of current alternatives, the Classic MP offers low life-cycle costs. The vacuum pump emits neither heat nor oil mist and is extremely quiet, thus contributing to an improved working environment and facilitating use of the pump in processes with strict purity requirements, e.g., in the pharmaceutical industry.

As the Classic MP produces no sparks, it can also be used in explosive environments. One model has a chemical-resistant finish and a special packing material for use in the chemical industry.

Easy installation
A compressed-air valve has been installed in the pump in order to reduce energy consumption and increase the degree of efficiency. This automatically shuts off the pump once the correct vacuum level is attained and restarts it when the level drops.

"The Classic MP weighs very little and can be installed near the machine without the need for long pipe runs," says Svahn. The pump is what is known as a multistage ejector, which utilises optimum pressure in several stages in order to create a deep vacuum level with a high rate of flow. It can also cope with a low feed pressure and its maximum rate of flow is 50 litres per second (180 m³/hr). The vacuum level can be as low as 99.5 per cent (5 mbar).

PIAB develops, designs and markets products within the industrial vacuum technology field. Its products are used worldwide, primarily in material handling and production processes, e.g., in the packaging, automotive, graphics and chemical industries.
