NTPC bags 80 MW floating solar project in Madhya Pradesh

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited secured the 80 MW floating solar project at the Omkareshwar Reservoir in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

The bidding process took place on August 8, 2023, led by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture between Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. The outcome of the bidding revealed a tariff rate of ₹3.80/kWh.

The energy generated from this undertaking will be channelled towards the power needs of MP state DISCOMs.

Upon the successful realisation of this project, NTPC’s aggregate floating solar capacity will reach 342 MW. Presently, the NTPC Group boasts an operational renewable energy capacity of 3.3 GW, alongside a prospective pipeline of 20 GW in renewable energy capacity, which includes a substantial 4 GW energy storage system and the country’s pioneering Green Hydrogen based PNG blending project.
