/INS. UPM has significantly reduced work-related accidents with a three year program called “Step Change in Safety 2012–2014”. UPM’s lost time accident frequency* (LTAF) has decreased by 70% from 15.2 in 2012 to 4.4 in 2014.
UPM decreased work-related accidents by 60% in two years

The Lost Time Accident Frequency (LTAF)* decreased in 2012 and 2013 by a total of 60%. The total number of lost time accidents in all UPM sites globally decreased from over 550 in 2011 to 200 in 2013.

The majority of parts traditionally made from plastics are replaced with high quality, safe and durable biomaterials, UPM Formi and UPM Grada, which can significantly improve the overall environmental performance of car manufacturing. The Biofore Concept Car is designed and manufactured by students from the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
Fleet tests of UPM’s wood-based diesel show great results at VTT

/INS. (UPM, Helsinki, 27.2.2014 at 14.00) – The first fleet tests of UPM’s renewable diesel proved that UPM BioVerno works in cars just as well as any regular diesel. The fleet tests were conducted by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. They were started in May last year and ran until early 2014.
