Sophisticated minibar technology saves up to 40 energy

Energy saving refrigeration technology provides environmentally friendly way to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of the leisure industry. Such technology is embodied in the latest generation of Electrolux "miniBars". The new range also performs best against competition in terms of low energy consumption.

High performance figures have been confirmed by exhaustive independent tests by the German Institute for Thermodynamics and Cooling Technology at the University of Karlsruhe. The institute found that the new range of minibars performed significantly better than its competitors, on average. The reported energy consumption is 40 per cent lower than comparable competing models. These tests were based on accepted international standards for equipment performance over a number of testing conditions.
This improved performance has been achieved by a combination of technologies which includes more sophisticated electronic controls, better insulation and more efficient cooling technology. Patented 'Fuzzy Logic' technology gives the latest generation of Electrolux "miniBars" better temperature control, lower maintenance requirements and an automatic defrosting sequence that prevents ice build-up. Fuzzy Logic is an electronic control technology normally associated with sophisticated aircraft and industrial systems, for example.
In practise this means that hotels, for instance, can help reduce overall energy costs - estimated to be the second highest expense in their operations overall - which has a consequent effect on profits. At the same time, use of high performance minibars helps to fulfil hotel operators' environmentally responsible policies of consuming less and recycling more.

Diverse demands
Increasingly small-size refrigeration systems have to respond to an increasingly diverse range of food and drink storage requirements.
The "miniBar" range, designed and manufactured by Electrolux Siegen GmbH in Germany, currently consists of nine basic models. Their size, styling and finishes can be tailored to suit individual requirements and conditions.
Electrolux entered this sector of the refrigeration industry about 10 years ago. Since then, the company has built up an estimated 70 per cent market share of the business world-wide. The company believes that there are significant opportunities for further expansion of the market world-wide particularly in Latin America, Asia and the Far East./ins
