/INS. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has approved agreements with Ørsted for the development and sublease of up to 34 acres at the New Jersey Wind Port (NJWP), which Ørsted will use as a staging and support area for its 1.1 GW Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind project.

Ørsted announced the successful delivery of the first power from the Greater Changhua 2a Offshore Wind Farm. This represents a big achievement for Ørsted and the industry as Greater Changhua 1 & 2a is the largest offshore wind project in Taiwan and the company’s first large-scale offshore wind farm in the Asia-Pacific region.    

When fully operational, Hornsea 2’s 165 8 MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines will be capable of generating 1.32 GW of clean electricity – taking the title of ‘world’s largest operating offshore wind farm’ from its sibling project Hornsea 1. Together, the two projects will be capable of providing enough power for well over 2.3 million homes.

Global environmental non-profit CDP acknowledges Ørsted as a global leader on climate action for the third year in a row. Since CDP’s assessment, Ørsted had its 2040 net-zero target approved as science-based as only one of seven companies globally.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has launched the Net-Zero Standard as the world’s only framework and leading standard for aligning corporate net-zero targets with climate science. As part of the launch, Ørsted’s 2040 net-zero full value chain decarbonisation target has now been validated as science-based.
