Finland's Pavilion at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention March 12-15 2007 Miami Beach

The great ships are coming back. Some of them are being built in northern Europe, in Finland.
Finnish know-how is widely recognized and for instance Finnish icebreakers are considered to
be the best in the world. This year there is amazingly almost no ice to break in the Gulf
of Finland. So the icebreakers are at the moment being used as cruise ships instead! In Finland's
Pavilion you will meet some outstanding Finnish and international experts on cruise-related products.

The Finnish ship making industry started after world war II, when Finland had to deliver war reparations to Russia in six years: new ships $60 million, paper products $59 million, wood industry products $41million, cable products (which later turned into "NOKIA") $25 million, ships surrendered from the existing merchant marine $13 million and miscellaneous equipment $100 million. All this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because it created Finlands famous ship industry. Many modern ice breakers and cruise ships are today being built in Finland.

Finland's pavilion at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention gives the visitor a good picture of where the
Finns stand today. Finnish companies are working around the globe and they are widely recognized for their good quality, dependability and excellent communications./ins
