New thin floor makes renovation easier

PRESS RELEASE

New thin wood flooring makes
renovation easier

A new type of wood flooring which is both hard and thin is now being launched by the wood-flooring specialists AB Gustaf Kähr. Linné, as the new flooring is called, is specially targeted towards renovations and DIY enthusiasts.

The wooden boards are made up in three layers, of which the top is a hardwood veneer. The flooring is available in four types of wood: oak, beech, ash, and cherry. Under the hardwood layer there is a tough fibreboard layer and then a bottom layer of pine. The structure is stable but is also easy to lay - even for someone laying a floor for the first time, the manufacturers claim. Also, thin flooring is very suitable for replacing floors in areas where door and threshold clearances do not allow the use of thicker flooring materials. The size of the boards is designed to make them easy to transport in, for example, a car boot.

Durable lacquer process
Earlier in the year, Kährs were successful in producing a very high quality lacquer, after many years' intensive development work with their coatings supplier. Even in thin coatings, this lacquer has proved itself capable of standing up to wear far better than earlier treatments.
The new varnishing method means that the company can now offer a wood flooring which, despite its thinness, is very durable. And, if necessary, Linné flooring can be relacquered.
The lacquer contains no solvents or formaldehyde, making for environmental friendliness both in production and in the finished flooring.

Natural packaging
For the new flooring, Kährs has produced a new type of packaging made of recyclable paper which can be sent for reclamation in its entirety./ins
